After a complete (re)installation of Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04), I started to find out some new applications to try.
Those apps are now showed on this page and ready for the installation.
I’ve included all the possible commands to install packages for the people that (like me) loves to do just a “select + middle-click” instead of using slow GUIs to do operations :)

Do you trust my choices? Then install everything.

With this simple command, you’ll download and install every application listed on this page from official ubuntu’s repository (packages included in the Tips sections will be not installed!) instead of read all the post ;).
sudo apt-get install soundconverter brasero jokosher sbackup thoggen pitivi disk-manager tracker gnome-compiz-manager

    Questo è un tutorial passo passo per l’installazione e la configurazione di un ambiente di sviluppo CakePHP.
    E’ inteso principalmente per gli utenti Linux, in paticolare per gli utenti Ubuntu.

    Cos’è CakePHP?
    CakePHP è un framework di ultima generazione, funzionante sia su PHP4 che su PHP5, simile a Ruby On Rails e Symfony in certi campi.
    Grazie a questo strumento si può arrivare a sviluppare una completa wep-application in un lasso di tempo brevissimo poichè, grazie anche alla logica Model-view-controller (MVC), sarai sempre spronato al riutilizzo del codice sfruttando le potenzialità dell’orientamento ad oggetti.

    Ecco qui una breve lista delle features (grazie a Wikipedia):

    • Compatibile con PHP4 e PHP5
    • CRUD integrato per il database e forme semplificate di query

    Awesome Box v2 has been delayed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s all done, but I am in the process of redesigning this site and the launch of Awesome Box v2 will coincide with the relaunch of Paul Armstrong Design.

    However, if you need a copy of the new version of this Awesome Thing, you should comment Paul Armstrong’s post.

    This is a particular implementation of Yahoo! UI Javascript Library that wants to create a web image viewer like Lightbox but, unlike this one, it has a clear and simply interface (with animations too) and supports so many things like Photo series, long descriptions and other stuff.

    However, in the upcoming release (version 2, I guess), there will be some changes.

    • Complete cross-browser support: Will now work correctly in IE6, IE7, Firefox, Safari, Opera and others.
    • No sizing tweak-outs: Occasionally v1 would not read the size of an image correctly. This is now fixed.
    • Completely Rewritten: More modular and concise code will help with load times and support.
    • Keyboard Navigation: A la Lightbox 2.0, keyboard navigation with the n, p, and x keys.

    Paul is still searching for some new exiting features to include before the release so, if you have some suggestions, I think you should tell him!
